The difference between the reuse of reclaimed water, the reuse of concentrated water and the reuse of wastewater

Recently, I saw some netizens asking about the differences among reclaimed water reuse, concentrated water reuse and waste water reuse. To make clear the difference between the three, we must first have a detailed understanding of their concepts.

  Reclaimed water reuse:

The word "reclaimed water" is relative to the water supply and drainage. Reclaimed water reuse technology refers to the centralized treatment of residential domestic waste water (bath, toilet, laundry, kitchen and toilet) to a certain standard and reuse it for greening irrigation, vehicle washing, road washing and household toilet washing, so as to achieve the purpose of saving water. In this sense, the core of reclaimed water reuse should be municipal sewage treatment.

     Concentrated water reuse treatment:

In industry, concentrated water is generally considered to be the part that is removed when ordinary water becomes desalted water, that is to say, ordinary water = concentrated water + desalted water. In this sense, concentrated water is not industrial wastewater or sewage. It can only be said that compared with ordinary water, the ion concentration is higher.

     Wastewater reuse:

Wastewater reuse refers to the reuse of industrial wastewater or sewage for production system or domestic miscellaneous use after secondary treatment and advanced treatment. Therefore, this is what we often call wastewater treatment and reuse.

From the above concept, we can see that reclaimed water reuse is municipal sewage treatment and reuse, concentrated water reuse is the residual liquid after industrial water treatment in the front section, and wastewater treatment is the end of industrial water treatment.
